Garth Brooks ‘Live From Las Vegas’ Tops TV Ratings

(Taste of Country) – Garth Brooks can easily fill up a stadium of eager concert attendees, and apparently, he can also beckon millions of viewers for an impressive national TV showing. On Friday (Nov. 29), the singer proved he can still top television ratings with an airing of his ‘Live From Las Vegas‘ farewell show.

The singer’s special on CBS drew 8.7 million viewers and a 1.8 rating among adults 18-49. To put that into perspective, that’s double the viewers and adult demo rating of Lady Gaga’s primetime special this week, according to EW.

Gaga’s romp with the Muppets — aptly titled ‘Lady Gaga & the Muppets Holiday Spectacular,’ which aired Thursday (Nov. 28) — drew a meager 3.6 million viewers and a 0.9 rating among adults 18-49.

During the broadcast, which was happening live at the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas, Brooks took the audience through his musical journey, playing his standby hits and also songs by artists who have influenced him.

The concert marked Brooks’ final show of his one-man residency on the Strip, and he finished with a flourish, telling the 1,500-seat audience (and in turn, viewers at home), “Thank you for my life.”

Concurrent with the airing of ‘Live From Las Vegas,’ Garth Brooks released a huge new box set, now available at Walmart.
