Taylor Swift and Luke Bryan ‘Don’t Want This Night to End’ at Nashville Red Concert

(Taste of Country) – Taylor Swift let someone crash her party at the first of three Nashville shows on Thursday (Sept. 19). Her special guest was none other than Luke Bryan, who pretty much owned the stage, much to the delight of Swift’s fans.

“You didn’t think I was going to show up here without a surprise for you,” Swift teased with a cheshire cat-like grin. “And it’s a really, really good one. I think you’re really going to like it, since this an artist everyone really, really likes.”

Bryan is the reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year, so Swift nailed it with that intro.

Wearing a black Grand Ole Opry tee tucked into her red hot shorts, Swift welcomed another of country’s own. He ran down the steps, high-fived the ‘Mean’ superstar, and they launched into a performance of his hit ‘I Don’t Want This Night to End’ for the capacity crowd. While Bryan delivered the verse, Swift jumped up and down with him and joined him for the chorus. He even let her take a verse all her own!

Swift and Bryan’s version made the song feel like one that they were meant to sing together. Two of country music’s finest sure have palpable chemistry. We’re glad Swift — who has been inviting pop singers to join her onstage for much of the 2013 Red Tour — went country at her first of her Nashville shows.

Swift actually revealed to the crowd that Bryan flew across the country on his only day off to surprise Swift fans and to perform with her. It was that big of a deal for both artists.

Be sure to check out the improvised ending at around 6:30 in, where Bryan sings some customized Swift-themed lyrics about the Red Tour.

Thursday night marked the first of three sold-out shows at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. We can only imagine what Swift has up her sparkly sleeve for the next two gigs. Since she is in Music City, it seems like a foregone conclusion that another country act or two will join her. Stay tuned.
